Identity

I tend to use a lot of the same user name and password combinations on the internet. From a security point of view I know it's not a good idea but it saves me having to remember too much different information about which name I used for which site etc. It used to be the case that all you needed to remember was your 4-digit PIN code for the cash machine but these days it's hard to keep track of all your online information in your head because there's just so much of it and I'm not getting any younger and my memory ain't getting any better.

One drawback to someone using the same username everywhere they go is that it makes them easy to track online and perhaps link them to websites you didn't expect them to use. Like for example when you Google someone's username because you're bored, have nothing better to do and have plenty of time to kill and you end up finding a profile for them on a dating site.

That's as far as my interest went because after that I just became engrossed in looking at the dating site. Personally I don't use them, don't care for them and they're probably all pretty much the same. They offer you HOT SINGLES IN YOUR AREA but if you want to actually contact any of them then please give us large sums of money every month kthxbye. I'm sure they work for some people but when you start looking at endless similar photos then your faith in humanity really does start to go down. As a hetero male, I looked up the HOT WOMEN AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA and nearly every photo was identical.

Here I am on holiday
Here I am holding a cocktail
Here I am dolled up at a friend's wedding
Here I am on a hen night
Here I am holding a wine glass
Here I am with another person in the same photo so you're not quite sure which one is me

The more you try to convince me that "I'm mad, me!" or show how fun you are by holding up a succession of multi-coloured fruit-based drinks, the more I weep for humanity. Is there no originality left? Also when given the opportunity to tell the world a little bit more about yourself don't just write "just ask lol" Who wants to get to know you better if you don't give someone something to go on? At least state an interest so you have a conversation opener. Granted these sites probably work best for the general public with general generic interests given that most people seem to confuse 'going out' and 'having a laugh' with actual hobbies. Besides have you ever tried just going out and having a laugh? Try literally that in the middle of the street and you look like a loon.

It doesn't get any better for the women looking to find a boyfriend either. By the time they reach a certain age, most men seem to have turned into Phil Mitchell. Slightly chubby, bit stubbly and no hair so they look like a pig's testicle. If you're a 30 or 40-something women you'd best get attracted to that type of guy pretty quickly because that's pretty much what's on offer. I consider myself lucky that I still have my hai....you know what, I'm not even going to jinx it.

So yeah, your choices are 'look at my cocktail' or 'look at my cock'. Shoot me now. My aim in life is to try and be helpful and nice to people but when you see the people on a dating site then it makes me question my values. And if like me you have non-mainstream interests outside of pubs, football and Keith Lemon then you might as well be trying to find a chocolate bar in a barrel full of shit. My advice is be happy for who you are. You don't need someone else to make you happy and you shouldn't place your happiness in the hands of someone else.

Totally agree. Seems to me like all these generic people who are into going out, staying in, eating, drinking, converting oxygen to carbon dioxide through respiration, etc. should just hook up with each other and then maybe there would be space for people who are actually, you know, interesting in some way.

The chances are there are people on there who are dying a little inside every time they think of their profile because that isn't really them and they don't know what else to do about it
